Dr. Ivana Drienovská is currently an assistant professor of biocatalysis and biomolecular chemistry at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences (appointed July 2020). She obtained her bachelor and master degree in Biochemistry from Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. She completed her PhD in Organic Chemistry at the Stratingh Institute for Chemistry, the University of Groningen in 2017 (in Prof. Roelfes group), followed by postdoctoral research in Biotechnology at Graz University of Technology (Prof. Kourist group). The research of her group is focused on exploring and demonstrating the potential of genetically encoded non-canonical amino acids that, as building blocks, can offer unprecedented advances in enzyme engineering, enzyme design as well as a plethora of other applications.
