Anita Emmerstorfer-Augustin studied Molecular Biotechnology at Graz University of Technology and finished her PhD at the Austrian Centre of Industrial Biotechnology (acib) in 2014. After a short Postdoc position at acib, she received funding from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) to join the Thorner lab at UC Berkeley from 2016-2018, where she focused on studying fundamental yeast cell biology. After her return to Austria, she was awarded a BioTechMed-Graz Young Researcher Group, which allowed her to establish her own research group in the field of molecular biology, cell engineering and protein biosynthesis.
